Course information
Join colleagues from St Andrews and the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland to discuss approaches to part-time postgraduate research. This session is intended to cover approaches to study for students and supervisors. Please note, this session will be taking place online (Teams) in order to accommodate PGRs and staff who may be working remotely.
What participants have said about a previous version of this course:
- I appreciated the format, combination of briefs based on experience, and then discussion to exchange ideas and insights.
- Part-time study can be isolating and confusing in a system that is taking full-time study to be the default. While all our reasons for being or going part-time are unique, there are things we have in common. And this event is an opportunity to learn about that, and to connect. It is also an opportunity to reflect on what one needs academically to succeed in one's PhD on a part-time basis. And it is an opportunity to hear from the supervisor perspective about the challenges they face in supervising part-time students.
- This event is an invaluable moment of sharing and support in a friendly and non-judgemental environment. As a part-time and distance learner I always cherish these precious moments in which I can meet and engage with other students. Utterly unmissable!
